OVERTHINKING
Overthinking is our mind trying to manage and control overwhelm.
It’s a coping mechanism that has been successful in the past, using our clever head to prepare for a worst case scenario.
But when the thinking mind prevents us sleeping, keeps our body in stress and survival, using up precious energy reserves - then it’s time for change.
Consider the focus of the thoughts:
⚡️Maybe there’s too much to do
⚡️Maybe there’s too much fear or worry about a situation.
⚡️Maybe you find yourself planning for the worst case scenario.
⚡️Maybe you are trying to rehearse the right thing to say, or the best response.
Whatever the situation
We are either trying to solve a problem or control or prepare for a future outcome so we stay feeling safe and secure.
Answers and inspiration find us in moments of stillness or day dreams, in calm contemplation.
Not in the times of pushing, or striving.
Every storm has a centre point which is perfectly quiet and still.
Finding our own centre is the challenge, but it is worth the inner work that it takes to find it.
From our centre we can observe the storm, recognise that a part of you can see the whole situation and is aware of the facts
And then notice too that there is another part of you reacting with anxiety or worry.
You are both .
And both parts have a voice.
The reactive self wants to solve a problem, wants the discomfort to go away.
The centred self is the voice of wisdom, bringing the knowledge that we can’t control anything in the future. The present moment is that place from which everything unfurls.
What if NOW you could take a breath and find that calm voice.
For a moment, I invite you to take some space for yourself.
